House No.183
Bachelor Pad
San Francisco, California
House No.183 is a period home in San Francisco, California a city of Victorian row houses, painted lady facades and interiors that often undercut their own architecture. The brief for Studio November was to change that: to create a bachelor pad that felt genuinely grown-up, without losing warmth or personality.
The refurbishment focused on interior design and lighting throughout. The palette is deliberately restrained deep, earthy tones, rich leather and aged wood anchored by the original architectural details of the property rather than fighting against them. Each room was treated as a distinct composition: the living room layered with texture and art; the dining area intimate and candlelit in feel; the bedroom a retreat that earns its quiet.
Working across time zones from Oxford, Studio November managed the full design process remotely, proving that sensitive, detail-led design is possible at any distance. The project is a demonstration of the studio's international reach and its commitment to understanding how each individual client actually lives.
